Web Design & Development Projects

Geckoboard Dashboard

In the spring of 2013, I did a Node.js project for a Boulder company called Ubooly. I pulled data from the Freshbooks and Flurry APIs and displayed for a pull API at GeckoBoards. I also built the cloud server from the ground up using Digital Ocean.

MyNiceTie Site Development

MyNiceTie was the catalyst that propelled me to learn to code and also gave me some great business experience.

This is a website I built ~ 3 years ago in Magento. Although its old, I include it to show that I’m very familiar with the platform. One highlight is the way I used the existing category and product page structure to have a gallery of embedded videos.

The weird thing about Magento is that it actually requires some back-end work to get the theme to work right. It was good experience.

Planner Excel Tools (Payless Headquarters)

I was promoted quickly at Payless to a planner role in the International Athletics Department. In addition to my responsibilities of planning and buying shoes, I redesigned almost every excel tool that international planners used. One tool in particular took massive amounts of data and summarized it in easy-to-use charts and graphs. This allowed planners to process large amounts of data instantly to improve their decisions.

Analyst Excel Tools

I worked for a year at Payless Headquarters as an Analyst and built several tools to automate repetitive tasks and/or give myself and my peers more actionable information from the mass of data we had to deal with.

One in particular, the Promo Tracker Tool, helped analysts, throughout Payless Merchandising, track ad inventory by giving them quicker visibility to purchase order dates and quantities.

Acentra

This is a project I did for a client. I did everything but based the CSS off another popular site at the time.

ShadeWagon

This is an eCommerce theme I built for Magento. Some project highlights are that I did all the design and this was one of my first sites using some jQuery animation.

I don’t typically do the design, but I do enjoy it and if a client is concerned about cost, I can combine some of the design and development.

Buink.biz

Buink is the development company I started after I graduated from BYU. I designed the site from the ground up. You’ll find a portfolio page of other websites that I designed or developed. Definitely check that out because I have several projects there that I haven’t listed on this website.

In addition to the front-end, I also designed a backend business system for Buink. That was some of my first exposure to PHP and MySQL.

Other Previous Projects

I’ve done several projects that aren’t listed on this website. They include a couple sites built in Magento, a couple built in Drupal, one built in dream weaver, and a couple more in strait HTML and CSS.

I also did the design for all those sites and a couple logos as well. I wouldn’t say I’m the best designer, but I think clients leveraged my design skills because I had a very low rate at the time.
